Welcome Home

A Labour of Love.

Today, I am very proud to formally unveil my new-and-improved website, once primarily a blog, is now a beautiful online store for my little Strawberry Creek Farmhouse Soaps venture and an all-round reflection of the things that I like and enjoy.

It has taken awhile to find this place. About three decades to be exact! I knew waaaay back then that I wanted to make soaps and bath products. I just didn't know how, and I didn't know anyone else who did and could teach me. The dream settled far into the recesses of my mind, and daily life with small children took over. It would be three decades and many life experiences before this opportunity finally became a reality.

On the outside, my life hasn't shifted tremendously. We still have our children and grandchildren, the farm, Chris's work as a firefighter for our local community, and my full-time human resource role to fill our days. I'm just juggling this labour of love with the other balls, and loving every minute of it.

What makes the difference between some dreams coming to fruition and others lying dormant? Time, relevance, priorities, determination: I'm sure all are important factors. Many years ago I thought it would be exciting and interesting to run a bed and breakfast. I still think it would be interesting to meet travelers and host them in such a setting, but I am no longer intrigued by the thought of doing so. In fact, the idea now just makes me feel tired!

And so it was, about one year ago that Strawberry Creek Farmhouse Soaps formally began. I had been making soap off and on for a few years to give away to family and friends and had finally felt it was time to begin experimenting with actually making soap to sell. What a concept!

The reviews were positive and encouraging. Then someone asked if I could make bath bombs. Of course, I said. And so began a sharp learning curve to make the most skin-loving and visually appealing bath bombs possible. With the most beautiful fragrances possible. Then I received requests for body butter, and quickly learned how to turn a hard butter base into a light, fluffy skin-loving delight. My dry feet have never been so pampered!

As many of my customers know, Etsy was my platform for 2017, and it worked fairly well. However, as the year drew to a close, I realized that I wanted to take more control over the marketing aspect of my little shop and it seemed natural to renovate Your Awesome Life to encompass all of this. After all, the whole point to Your Awesome Life is to find our joy, our bliss, and satisfy our yearning to be all we can be.

And so the journey continues. Our farm products are expanding this year, the children are doing well and the grandsons are growing fast. My full-time career is still interesting, fun most days, and full of wonderful people. And now my little shop has a home. Welcome to Strawberry Creek Farmhouse Soaps. Please browse around. I hope you like what you see and try our beautiful products. We have many more products to come!

Many blessings to you.

Hugs,

Shelley
